Southport Dec. 30 2008: Gerrard, 28, was held in a police cell after being arrested over the alleged fracas in which Marcus McGee, a company director, lost a tooth and needed four stitches to a head wound. Police said Gerrard and five other men were held on suspicion of an offence under Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act, which comprises unlawful wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm and carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment. He was released from custody at Southport police station at 11.25pm on Monday after police interviewed him and the other five men, aged between 18 and 33, none of whom are team-mates of Gerrard.
