I love bumper stickers. I would never put one on my own vehicle but I certainly appreciate all the people out there who are willing to be a mobile reading station for my pleasure.

I think bumper stickers, like Tee Shirt slogans, are among the best in the creativity department. There is no telling what piece of mobile wisdom you may find when you hit the road.

There is always the inevitable “My Kid is an honor student at…” sticker which is almost always followed by a “My Kid BEAT UP your Honor Student…” sticker. One of my personal faves was always, “Dial 911 and make a cop come!”. What can I say? I’m a little strange, I admit it.

This past weekend I learned about something I never even imagined existed. Reverse sneezing. Saturday morning as my girlfriend and I were prepping for a trip to Yankee Stadium we noticed our dog, Grace an American Staffordshire terrier, was having these convulsion like episodes. She was inhaling air in these huge, forceful gulps and gasps that sounded like very loud pig grunts or something. It did not look very comfortable at all. She had actually started doing it Friday morning, only mildly so, but the next day Saturday it was impossible to ignore that she was having some kind of issue.

This is easily one of the more bizarre stories I’ve run across . This morning on my way into work I heard the morning DJ’s tell a story that had me howling with laughter. Apparently, back in November of 1970, the people of Florence, Oregon found themselves with an 8-ton, 45-foot-long sperm whale, dead for some time, washed up on the Pacific Ocean beach south of Florence.

At first it was a curiosity for local residents and visiting beachcombers, but the beached shamu became a stinking mess as the foul smell of rotting whale wafted through the dunes, causing residents to cry foul. The state Highway Division was given the task of cleaning up the mess, because the beach is a public right of way and after consulting the Department Of The Navy, a plan to blow up the carcass was hatched. Yeah, you read that right. They decided to load it with explosives and feed the local wildlife some blubber.

Ladies and gentlemen, we here at DTTD would like to introduce you to our newest contributor, Dr. Belafonte. Actually, I’m the one writing this. I thought that if I wrote this in third person I would sound cooler….or something. I suffer from ADD, and am a chronological liar (Yes, chronological, that means I tell lies about the order of events not the actual events).
