The RIAA Can Eat A Bowl Of Dick!I know you’re not supposed to talk about taboo topics such as politics, religion or anything to do with women’s rights because you’re just asking for trouble and there are supposedly no “right” answers, yet we all know that these subjects come up frequently enough that it pays to have an informed opinion about them. Here’s another b.s. topic that comes up a lot yet no one seems to have a clear answer - internet file sharing, namely the illegal downloading and sharing of big label music and movies. Illegal? Immoral? Unethical? Understandable? Pro? Con? What gives? Well, I’m here with my 2Cents to chime in on the subject and offer what I believe to be the absolute correct opinion.

I firmly believe that the majority of the people populating this world really truly want to be good, upstanding, helpful citizens yet there are numerous obstacles that basically force good people to do bad things. File sharing is one of these complicated situations. I would suppose that the majority of people downloading music & movies are actually fans of music and movies and thus are not out to hurt or destroy those involved in making or producing the media they love so dearly. Instead, I think that the masses of consumers who would love to support the music & movie industries finally have a way of lashing back at those big business mindsets that have taken what should be an art form and turned it into a mindless assembly line of lowest-common-denominator least-objectionable drivel - and on top of that, have charged a high premium for it!

The music & movie industries as a whole have essentially run the true artists out of the business and have b*tch slapped the consumer, force feeding them crap. So now along comes the ability for these same consumers to grab whatever music or movies they want, for free, and they are greedily taking everything in site. Not to destroy these industries, but to destroy their monopolistic, godlike mindset. I am a firm believer that if these industries started producing a better product and figured out a way for the consumer to feel like they are part of the process than they will be in an incredibly strong position.

Answer this question - why do people volunteer? It’s because they want to give back, to feel good about themselves for helping others, to feel like they are part of a wholesome and helpful process. Strangers coordinate their efforts all over the world for free, just to be part of something good. You’re telling me fans of art wouldn’t support these industries if they felt they were part of something good? Rabid fans would do almost anything to support the artists & musicians they adore. Put the people back in the spotlight and put the corporate machine back into a deep dark corner and these industries will be saved. Instead of taking this enlightened position, these industries attack the very consumers they thrive off of, further driving a greater divide between them. This comes across as incredibly arrogant and stupid and how do people react when facing arrogance & stupidity? They either get angry and fight back or they giggle as they steal right out from under your nose, snickering as they piss you off even further. And that’s where we are right now. File sharing is the result of the consumer feeling like they have been taken advantage of and now here comes the payback - and she is a b*tch.

That’s my 2Cents. F*ck you.
