I have decided to give blogging for money a shot. I have already given blogging for AdSense clicks a try and that’s been a bit like mining for gold during the 1849 gold rush….only the guy selling miners tools is getting rich. So I looked around the net for ways to get paid for blogging and after a while of looking around, I came across Smorty.com in blog directory, BlogCatalog.com.

Smorty.com is a service that hooks up bloggers with advertisers in much the same way services like AdBrite.com do. In a nut shell, bloggers looking to get paid for blogging, sign up for the service and once their blog site is approved, can sign in to see the latest ‘job’ opportunities their site gets offered. These opportunities are also emailed to the blogger.

From the advertisers side of things it works much the same. An advertiser looking to advertise on blogs, signs up and is presumably provided a list of qualifying sites. They then choose sites to submit offers too, detailing the specifics of what they expect to see in the post. Being that I am not looking to do blog advertising, I only signed up as a blogger.

I found the sign up to be easy and the back-end website is simple and clean. My blog took about a day or so to get approved and I had 3 opportunities waiting for me. All three were for product and service reviews which I assume is what the bulk of these requests will be. I was pleasantly surprised to see these offers were for $6 each. It’s not a whole lot of money mind you but from where I’m sitting, it beats the pants off of pay for clicks! It is certainly more than I am making per post now. Not sure how many more of these opportunities will show up or with what regularity but I can’t wait to find one I can tackle.

I have to say that I did look around quickly and found plenty of bloggers who were happily using Smorty.com in various forums and blog communities. I didn’t find anyone who wasn’t getting their checks, which if you’ve been trying to make money as an affiliate for any time, you know is the hard part sometimes.

The clean, easy to use website and sign up routine, decent pay per post pay out combined with loads of user positive reviews earns this service high marks from me. Really nothing could be easier and I love the idea of getting to blog for money. I may even start a separate blog just for product reviews and see how much I can really make with them.
